RACES

Thanks to all who made it up to the second race @ the Pass. Friday brought rain. Sat morning practice still had water running down the course. The sun came out and the weather was perfect. The trails actually held moisture all weekend.   Loney(Proj.529) Hobbs (Fluidride), and Tufts(Center Cycle) took top pro honors.

Top Sport, and begiinner times even took home cash payouts

Will post more soon

The Coalition is currently working with Willamette Pass to upgrade and repair trails. We joined forces a little late. We realized that the Pass staff and a small handfull of WARP members where overwhelmed with work. D.H.C is basicly trying to fill in the gaps where needed.  We will be providing some rider swag for races. We will hosting camping, and providing the portable toilettes. ( Due to new forest service regulations bathrooms must be provided to allow camping.)  We will also now will be more involved in course line selection. Some line choices will be addressed, and we will continue doing our best to work with the staff at Willamette Pass to insure the best possible trails.

Not everything has been perfect but the staff at the pass and members of Warp have been working very hard. D.H.C thanks them. Any progress is good.

Volunteer Work Day at the Pass

Under the protection of a 501c organization Willamette Pass will be holding its 1st official work party. It will take place July 11th-12th.  I know that is the same day as the Mt Hood Ski Bowl race, But if your not racing and have the time please come up and lend a hand. If anyone plans to attend, needs rides or more info contact us, or visit Willamette Pass web site.

Trail work is being done at the Willamette Pass.

Top of Expert, top of Sport, and middle Sport are all getting make overs.

This Pic shows the merging of the Expert course. You can see the original trail on top right.

Trails are still loose and being worked. Lots more work is planned.

Keep your eyes out for workers on the trail.

The upper Expert course will now follow the top rock garden down to the sport course.  Zig zagging in and out of the trees parallel with the road.

Below: This new section cuts off the Sport course below the rock drop. It cuts over to the lower Expert course.

Big thanks to all the trail monkeys!

Public Workshop - Enhancing the Ridgeline Park

Developing a Master Plan for Eugene’s Latest Ridgeline Acquisition!

Date: Monday, June 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Location: Hilyard Community Center, 2580 Hilyard St. in Eugene
Agenda: Presentation at 6:00 p.m., followed by public input

Please join City of Eugene staff and a Community Task Team for the first of several public workshops to develop a master plan for a large Ridgeline Park addition obtained last year.

In 2008, The Eugene Parks and Open Space Division acquired 200 acres of land in southeast Eugene from Arlie & Co. for an expansion of the Ridgeline Park system.  This parcel will enable the existing 12 mile Ridgeline Trail to extend another several miles towards Lane Community College and Interstate 5.

Come learn more about this significant addition and share your ideas about potential enhancements.  A short presentation will be followed by an opportunity to provide input on trails, recreation, habitat and other topics.

For more information contact: Philip Richardson, Landscape Architect, City of Eugene, Parks and Open Space Division at 541-682-4906 or by email at philip.s.richardson@ci.eugene.or.us, or check the Eugene Parks and Open Space website: www.eugene-or.gov/parks.

 RACE READY!!!!!!!

The first race of a 3 part series was great!!

Thanks to everyone who showed, and who helped make it possible.

SEE RACE PAGE FOR MORE INFO

BEGINNERS:

We are working on getting you a new course. The disc golf runs and forest service stuff is making it more difficult.  I am sorry, but for the first race we will have to run the old course. I dont want to send anyone down the sand pit  as much as you prob, dont want to ride down it. POST your ideas on the blog. We will do the best we can.

_Sorry but the SWEET conditions from all the snow is fading fast. The trails are drying out, and  duffy, breakbumpy stuff is coming out. We will try to keep up.  It is still super ragen, plus I kind of  like it drfty.

- The expert course has a sweet new section. It comes in after the 3-part wizard bridge and bypasses the high speed C section.  It is still under work but come help us rip it in!

-The sport course has been cleared, raked, and we have started repairs. There are still some spots that need TLC (rock drop: watch out for tree stubs!!!) so be wise on the first run.

-Damn inflation! Lift tickets are $19/day and $75/season. Help support the mountain so they keep letting us wahoos go crazy.

-Willamette pass has a new race promoter! These trails are core and anybody who races them deserves a good promotion.  We are working with management, promoters, and racers to ensure a sick and organized race year.  If you are a business and want to reach out to the community we can always use more schwag!

-Blog your favorite sections of the expert course so we can pick the lines for race day!

-We are planning some new lines (flowy and more freeride), getting sport in tip top shape, and giving the beginners a more fitting starting line. We could use your help so next time your coming to the pass grab a shovel and rake and lend a hand for a bit, everything helps. Check out the contact page for more info or if you want to comment.
